On July 26, 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. The ADA, as it is known, is a wide ranging civil rights law that prohibits, discrimination based on recognized disabilities. This law extended the same protections against discrimination of the fifty-year-old Civil Rights Act to those with “…a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.”
K-O-O-P is recognizing this anniversary as one of its Celebration Events on much of its News and Public Affairs and music programming, including personal stories of how this law has benefitted K-O-O-P programmers and listeners. We invite you to join K-O-O-P, radio for people, not for profit, all week long in this celebration and recognition of the ADA.
