This program presents adventurous jazz and improvised music featuring the musicians and innovations that have emerged (or are emerging) from the jazz tradition. It showcases work that recognizes these roots but looks forward. Rick has been listening to jazz for more than 35 years. His photographs of several jazz giants, taken in various Chicago locations in the late 1970s, can be seen in the online magazine monk mink pink punk. Rick also presents cutting-edge music that has arisen from the Classical "tradition" on Imaginary Landscapes, an Internet-only program, Mondays from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at koop.org.

Clifford has written about jazz since 2002. In addition to All About Jazz, his writing can be found in Signal To Noise, Paris Transatlantic, Bagatellen, Austinist and One Final Note.
