On air since 1996, Youth Spin brings varied perspectives of Austin youth through commentaries,
interviews, music and more. The collective have been recognized nationally by the National
Federation of Broadcasters as a model for youth radio programs. Youth Spin also participates in PRX, the Public Radio Exchange, where their pieces have been featured and one was used in an NPR podcast.
We cover most anything, especially if it is youth related. We like to talk about movies, art, media, politics/current events, and teen-related issues.
We love to interview bands and recent interviews include: My Chemical Romance, +44, Of Montreal, The Academy Is..., The Plain White T's, Cute Is What We Aim For, Islands, No Age, Cobra Starship, Great Glass Elevator, Mika Miko, Powerspace, The Faint, The Matches, and many more!
However our interviews aren't just with bands; we've spoken with people from Barack Obama and Rick Perry's campaigns, and authors such as Eddie De Oliviera and David Clement-Davies.
