KOOP Unveils New T-Shirt Design

KOOP is very pleased to unveil the Spring 2012 Membership Drive t-shirt design.

The creator of this terrific "KOOP synthesizer" is Jacob Borshard - an Austin cartoonist and musician known for his ukulele songwriting, screenprinted posters and homemade Batmobile.

February Volunteer of the Month – Jay Robillard

It is hard to think about your community radio station without giving a nod to some of the longstanding volunteers we have – and we have MANY! One of those volunteers, Jay Robillard, has been involved with KOOP even before we went on the air. (hint: we are celebrating our 17th birthday this year). Some (many?) of our listeners were still in diapers when Jay’s program, The Lounge Show, first hit the airwaves. He grew up listening to the crooners of the 60s and just had to share his ‘easy’ style with the rest of the folks in Austin.

The Lounge Show is a mix of those crooners along with international jet set, kitschy, and comedic music just to name a few...

Happy New Year!

With the new year, we'd like to share with you a couple of changes to our new schedule. Beats of Burden - now on Thursdays at 12:00 noon, exploring various latin rhythms and genres ranging from mambo, salsa, cumbia to moombhaton, reggaeton, dubstep, and more. Under the Covers - Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. only on the KOOP stream - focuses on cover music that brings something special, better, or new to the original. Give them a listen. As always, you'll like what you hear!

International Delegation from India Visits KOOP

On Friday, September 30, KOOP Radio welcomed a U.S. Department of State international delegation from India. Dr. Neena Jha, Ms. Sonia George, Ms. Archana Kapoor, Ms. Rehana Khatun and Ms. Sunit Menon stopped by on a multi-city visit of the U.S. exploring the role of non-governmental organizations in promoting global women's issues. The delegation came to KOOP Radio for a tour and a discussion on the role and function of community radio in reaching target audiences, engaging the community and developing an effective funding program model...
