What's New will feature an interview with comedian Paul F. Tompkins (pictured), who will be performing this coming week at the Austin Sketch Festival. Also, we will talk with the band The Hood Internet, who will be performing this week at The Mohawk, here in Austin. Monday, 5/20, 10 a.m.

Under the X in Texas hosts Rose Sinclair Steel Quartet performing live cuts off her new cd Lone Star Landing then The Carper Family step up to the mics singing songs off their new cd Old Fashioned Gal. Tuesday, 5/21, 9-11 a.m.

The Global Wanderer interviews Nomadic Matt. Matt traveled the world for over 6 years, has become a famous travel blogger, and is the book author of How to Travel the World on $50 a Day?. We will chat about how to travel frugally, and share many ideas on how to save money before and during your trip. Tuesday, 5/21, 2-3 p.m.

Lights, Camera, Austin talks with Before Midnight composer Graham Reynolds about his collaborations with director Richard Linklater, whose third film in the Before trilogy receives its Austin premiere on May 23 at the Violet Crown. Alamo Drafthouse programmers Greg MacLennan (pictured) and Tommy Swenson discuss The Summer of 1983 series, which kicks off May 25 with Return of the Jedi. Also, host Robert Sims will review Fast & Furious 6. Thursday, 5/23, 2-3 p.m.

KOOP Member contributes to Bastrop replanting effort

Monday afternoon KOOP members were thrilled to meet with They Might Be Monkeys owner Nevic Donnelly and Friends of the Lost Pines State Parks (Bastrop and Buescher State Parks) representatives Greg and Jamie to coordinate the donation from They Might Be Monkeys to Bastrop State Park that YOU made happen with your online and credit card donations during our membership drive.

During the KOOP Fall Membership Drive, each donation made using a credit card or online was met with a matching donation of $2 from They Might Be Monkeys to Bastrop State Park in support of the tree replanting effort there after last year's wildfires. This afternoon, we took a picture as owner of They Might Be Monkeys Nevic Donnelly wrote a check for $1,500 to the Friends of the Lost Pines State Parks, Texas Park wildlife manager Greg Creacy, and Park Superintendent Jamie Hackett.

Happy New Year!

With the new year, we'd like to share with you a couple of changes to our new schedule. Beats of Burden - now on Thursdays at 12:00 noon, exploring various latin rhythms and genres ranging from mambo, salsa, cumbia to moombhaton, reggaeton, dubstep, and more. Under the Covers - Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. only on the KOOP stream - focuses on cover music that brings something special, better, or new to the original. Give them a listen. As always, you'll like what you hear!
