Waking Up Orwell
Thursdays 2:30 - 3:00 PM Host: Sheila Dean  Waking Up Orwell is a radio program serving the under-served in the Austin community by providing news and public affairs programming about little known government actions and tax expenditures supportive of globalized power brokering. We discuss what leads to negative effects on U.S. citizens locally and nationally in a fresh talk radio format. Some of the issues we cover are: public surveillance, developments with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, agitation of border conflicts, federal emergency management, homeland security, prison and police policy, civil liberties, electronic privacy, unlawful search and seizure and keeping tabs on “continuity of government”. Katie Brewer, a leader in Stop Vampire Cops, is a member Texans For Accountable Government pac steering committee, a radio show host on www.wfuradio.com, member of Pflugverille Liberty Lovers.com. She is a wife, mothers who opposes the use of excessive force and anything that flies in the face of civil liberties. Debbie Russell, co-chair of the ACLU of Texas is a longtime community activist and representative of Austin's civil liberties. She was a consultant on Phil Donahues documentary film, BODY OF WAR - a feature about a disabled Iraq war verteran and other conscientious objectors. We will be taking calls throughout the show.
