50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots

This June marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.  On June 28, 1969 there was a raid at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village.  Patrons were fed up with demeaning treatment by the police.  That night the oppressed crowd decided that they were not going to take any more and a riot erupted.
