Sharon has been involved in music all her adult life and has played with the Fuzzy Mountain String Band as well as two collaborations with Alice Gerrard. Sharon currently plays rhythm guitar and sings with the central Texas band Hill Country Harmonizers. Sharon also co-founded the Sugar Hill Records label.
Ted Branson arrived in Austin, Texas 45 years ago, has traveled all over North America and acquired a huge music collection on Vinyl and CD. After meeting and seeing Don Stover perform in a Brooklyn Ontario house concert 1971, Ted received a Framus 5 string banjo for Christmas, began jamming in Bluegrass Festival campgrounds, playing on street corners , watching acts perform like The Earl Scruggs Revue, Doug Dillard, John Hartford, The Country Gazette, The Country Gentlemen, , Doc and Merle Watson, Jimmy Martin and Mac Wiseman. Ted also hosts Under the X in Texas on KOOP Radio every Tuesday morning at 9:00 -11am and internet only Tuesday's 8am-9am A Blues Groove..
Gary Mortensen has been involved with music all his life – initially, as a woodwind player in school and in the Army Band. But the “Folk Scare” of the sixties hit him hard and he became hopelessly involved in various forms of string band music, including bluegrass, country, Western swing, Eastern swing – everything except rock and roll.
Originally, from Chicago, Gary lived in TX from 2002 through 2011, then spent three years back up north, but has recently returned to TX to stay! He was one of the hosts of Strictly Bluegrass during 2011 and is very excited to be back in the fold!
Susan recently retired from practicing law in Florida and moved to the Austin area. She was involved in community radio with WMNF in Tampa for 25 years, serving on its board of directors, and as a substitute host on the station’s flagship show, the Morning Show playing a wide range of and folk, acoustic, Americana music.
Susan loves music festivals and rarely missed a chance to see Peter Rowan, Vassar Clements, David Grisman, Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, the McCourys, and many other bluegrass and old time music greats at the Suwanee river and many other Florida music festivals.
KOOP was a big selling point for Susan’s willingness to relocate to Austin. She found her best friends through community radio in Tampa, and enjoyed helping with live shows and being a member of the “tribe.” She is an eclectic appreciator of great music from all genres.
